In the late 1800’s, New England was known as the leading shoe center in the U.S. Two businessmen, William H. Stacy and Henry L. Adams of Brockton, Massachusetts had an idea. Seeing a niche in the better men’s footwear business, they founded the Stacy Adams Shoe Company with the intent to provide the consumer with the best quality footwear at an affordable price. Their business intuition paid off. The company was an instant success, and has grown and expanded into the Stacy Adams Collection, which now also offers men’s belts, accessories, clothing, boy’s shoes, and women’s shoes as well.
Stacy Adams shoes has a rich history. Before he became a professional boxer, Rocky Marciano, raised in Brockton, worked at the Stacy Adams factory. Beginning in the 1920’s, when “jazz fashion” became the rage, you would find the “who’s who” of jazz musicians wearing Stacy Adams shoes when playing a gig or out for a night on the town. In the ‘30’s and ‘40’s, Stacy Adams were the must have accessory to wear with your zoot suit.
